What Should You Not Do After A Massage?

So you just finished getting a nice relaxing massage, the tension in your muscles has been released. You may be so relaxed now that you didn’t hear or remember the advice your massage therapist gave you. Now you’re wondering what should you not do after a massage and what you should do.

Things Not To Do After A Massage

  • Don’t overexert yourself (Gym or other workouts) – you may feel very relaxed but your muscles just went through an hour long workout
  • Do not eat a large meal, a small snack is a good idea though
  • Avoid coffee, alcohol or any other dehydrating drinks

Things To Do After A Massage

  • Drink Water (stay hydrated and flush out toxins)
  • Take some to rest and relax – depends on when you get your massage, maybe go to bed afterwards
  • Have a warm (epsom) bath or shower to clean off any remaining oils and soothe and remaining soreness
  • Do your stretches (most likely your therapist gave you some exercises to do to help you feel better)
